For those of you who are unaware, Microsoft plans to end support for Windows XP on 8 April, 2014. This means that they will no longer be releasing security updates and patches for Windows XP, this change could leave your system compromised if you continue to use the unsupported operating system.
In line with this, the next release of Reckon Accounts and Reckon Point of Sale desktop products will not officially support Windows XP.

I am still running Windows XP with Reckon Accounts desktop software, what should I do?

If you are still running Windows XP it’s time to upgrade. Reckon Accounts 2013 and the new Reckon Accounts 2014 products will be supported across both Windows 7 and 8 operating systems in a 32 bit and 64 bit configuration.

If I choose not to upgrade from Windows XP what will happen?

You’ll still be able to install and run Reckon Accounts software on Windows XP. However from 8 April 2014 we’ll only be able to offer limited support as there no longer be a guarantee that the software will perform as designed.

What about Windows Server 2003?

Microsoft is not stopping support of Windows Server 2003 until 2015, therefore we’ll continue supporting the operating system for Reckon Accounts 2013 and the new Reckon Accounts 2014 products until that time.

Will all my Reckon software work on a newer operating system?

Obviously it’s important our desktop products work across current operating systems. However some of the older versions of Reckon Accounts and Reckon Point of Sale programs do have issues on the Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems, we currently support the 2012 and 2013 programs on these systems, from April we will support the 2013 and 2014 versions.
