There’s a strong history of entrepreneurship in Australia. From our farming heritage to our technology innovation, Australians continually show they have creativity, passion and a desire to succeed. With Australia Day just around the corner we wanted to share with you how our company started and where Reckon Accounts is going in 2014.

Reckon Accounts in the beginning

Our own company started in Australia and started small. We were started by just a few guys in an apartment in Sydney. It was through their tenacity and vision that they brought the world’s best selling accounting software to Australia, and Reckon has grown to become the much bigger company you see today.

Reckon launched QuickBooks in Australia under licence from US software giant Intuit in the early 90s and localised the international product for Australian users. Since that time the product has grown in sophistication and users, with over half-a-million users in Australia. From February 2014 our relationship with Inuit will officially change, but we will continue developing the products for Australia and New Zealand under the Reckon name.

If you are a Reckon Accounts user, I can assure you that the Reckon Accounts business range will continue to be a significant part of our product range for many years to come. For you, nothing has changed. We’ve put together a new factsheet on the name change to help answer any questions you have.

Reckon Accounts in the future

This year we will release the Reckon Accounts 2014 in April. Our next release of the business range will make it even simpler to keep track of business transactions. I’m excited to pass on that Reckon Accounts 2014 will include Reckon BankData, an integrated application that makes it possible to have your bank transactions easily and securely imported into your accounting software, plus a range of other new features.

We also plan to re-launching the Reckon Accounts Hosted product this year. The already popular online program has been undergoing changes that will improve the user experience including how you access the program and print and save reports. We’ll share more with you about our new releases and features in the near future.

Happy Australia Day from the whole Reckon team.
